Thanks for coming by. I’m a journalist (in print, on line and on radio), a writer/performer and singer/songwriter, and this is the place where you can sample all of those things.
My blog, DWBinNYC, is the first on the pulldown menu above, and on the other tabs, you’ll find things like links to my songs, a couple of my radio shows from Capital Public Radio in Sacramento, CA, and a sampling of my writing. Further along the bar are references, my resume and a general overview of who I am and what I do. And my contact info is also there.
I hope you find something useful.

I wrote for more than two decades at The Sacramento Bee. I was the paper’s first and longest-working pop music critic. I was also The Bee’s outdoors writer, religion writer and a senior feature writer. I still contribute to the Op-Ed page on occasion.
I was the Editor-in-Chief of The Sacramento Press for three years. In addition to running the editorial department, editing stories and guiding the direction of the site, I also wrote news stories and Op-Ed pieces there.
Other clients include Bloomberg LLC, for whom I have covered state and federal courts since 2008. I’ve had an Op-Ed piece published by the Columbia Journalism Review, and I’ve had feature work in published in Under the Gum Tree, Sactown and Sacramento magazines, as well as in-flight magazines.

Journalism also led me to Capital Public Radio, the Sacramento affiliate of NPR. After three years as substitute host of “Insight,” a live, hour-long interview show that airs daily on Capital Public Radio, I was the show’s interim host from December 2011 to March 2012.
Though I won’t be hosting year-round, I will continue to serve as substitute host, and contribute in other ways.
